Common Craft

Since it is election day (and the day I was born), I saw this video and thought it was appropriate. The website Common Craft has some cute videos.

"We Make Videos.
Our videos are short, simple and focused on making complex ideas easy to understand. We use a whiteboard-and-paper format we call Paperworks that is designed to cut out the noise and stick to what matters."

PlaySEGA

It is almost impossible for me to say this word. I always end up singing the logo as it's done in its games.
But the company has a new online gaming site. As of today, it is only in Beta with a few games. But I really hope it does grow.

Amoretti Designs

Active girls with skirts or dresses on .
"A Skirty... It's the answer to that perennial problem of how to keep your little girl looking together while she's in a dress or a skirt. It might be your 4th grader who likes to wear a skirt to school but also likes to jump off the swings."

That's my girl. The website has sizes 2-12.

Kirtsy

A new name but still a site full of links around the internet. A "digg-like" site for women. I could spend alot of time just reading through there. But I always find a few interesting stories.

Grooveshark

Listen to any song - even if you don’t own the track - in it’s entirety.

Earn credit toward free songs by sharing music with others.

Discover, recommend, share, and download music without restrictions.

I love listening to music online while I surf the web. Sure, I have my Itunes library but sometimes I just want to listen to something new. I was using Imeem but I'm not finding alot of playlists from other people that I like listening too. Maybe I'll give Grooveshark a try.

Online paper dolls

If you would like paper dolls without all the paper or just want to dress up some celebrities, take a look at the website I found this morning: Stardolls.

There are plenty of free dolls and you can pay for extra things. It is aimed at girls from 7 to 17 but I still had some fun with the cloths. My daughter will like it but right now she is into the horses on the Bella Sara website, since she got some cards for Christmas.

The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. Last years event had roughly 85-90 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong a year later.

Free software

Free (And Legal!) Software Tools
by Jonathan Moeller
(from the Dollar Stretcher newsletter)

OpenOffice.org provides a
word processor, a spreadsheet program, a presentation program
(like PowerPoint), along with database and graphics
applications. OpenOffice.org can save files in pre-2007
Microsoft Office formats, making it easy to share documents
with Microsoft Office users. And as an added bonus,
OpenOffice.org's word processor can save documents as PDF
files, an ability Microsoft Word lacks. You can find it at
http://www.openoffice.org.

Developed by the Czech software
company Grisoft, AVG is consistently one of the most popular
free antivirus programs. Additionally, it requires far fewer system resources
than many competing antivirus programs. You can download it
from http://www.grisoft.com.

Originally developed as a senior project at the
University of Washington, Paint.net has since grown into a
simple, yet effective image editor. If your picture editing
needs are fairly straightforward, get Paint.net at
http://www.getpaint.net. If you need something more powerful,
you can try the famous GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
image editor. Like Paint.net, it originally began as a student
project at the University of California. While it lacks some
of Photoshop's more esoteric features, the GIMP is nonetheless
a powerful and complex image-manipulation tool. You can obtain
it from http://www.gimp.org.

Microsoft Windows itself carries a hefty price tag, but
nowadays you can even find free alternatives to it in the form
of the Linux operating system. The most popular distribution
(version) is Ubuntu Linux. Funded by South African billionaire
and former space tourist Mark Shuttleworth, Ubuntu has grown
so popular that computer manufacturer Dell has begun offering
Ubuntu pre-loaded on its systems. You can even try Ubuntu
before you install it on your computer; its "LiveCD" mode lets
you boot your computer from an Ubuntu CD, permitting you to
test it without altering your hard drive. You can download
Ubuntu from http://www.ubuntu.com.

Radwimps: New Single - Order made

This is a translation of the song "Order made" by the Japanese group Radwimps. Although I think the song is alright, I really love the concept in the lyrics of the song. Especially the part about needing only one heart so you can feel the other person's heart beating when you embrace them.

I found the translation on MangaHelpers.

I think I must have been asked this once.
Before I was born, by someone, somewhere.
"Choose one: the past, or the future,
And I will allow you to see it.
Which will it be?
Which will it be?"

And I probably decided on the past.
So that, rather than just strong, I could become kind, become kind.
So that I could understand what memories are.

Next, that 'somebody' told me this.
"I'll give you arms and legs and mouths and ears and eyes,
Hearts and breasts and nostrils.
I'll give you two of each one.
Isn't that great?
Isn't that great?"

But then I made a request.
I said, I'd be fine with just one mouth.
So I wouldn't argue with myself;
So I could only kiss one person.

I want to forget.
But somehow, I can't.
What do you call this kind of feeling?

Looking a little disappointed,
The person continued with his explanation.
"The hearts are most important,
So I'll put one behind each of your breasts.
Isn't that great?
Isn't that great?"

But, once more, I had a request to make.
I'm awfully sorry, but to be honest,
I really don't need a heart on the right.
Sorry to keep troubling you like this.

It's so that when I find that one special person,
And hold her close to me for the first time,
Only then will I finally be able to feel
Two hearts beating, one on each side.

The left one mine, the right, yours.
The left one yours, the right, mine.
So that alone, I'll always be lacking something.
So that I won't be able to just go on living alone.

I want to forget.
But somehow, I can't.
What do you call this kind of feeling?

My chest is pounding,
Yet somehow it seems familiar.
What do you call this kind of feeling?

"Ah, that reminds me, there's one last thing.
Would you like us to add in tears as well?
You'd have no problems without them,
But some people find them annoying, so they opt out.
What would you like?
What would you like?"

In the end, I asked him to add them in.
So that, rather than just strong, I could become kind, become kind.
So I could understand what it means to hold something dear.

"Oh, while we're at it, the tears will need a flavour.
So I'd just like you to choose which one you'd prefer.
We have sour, salty, spicy, sweet.
You can choose whichever you like.
Which will you have?
Which will you have?"

Everything was put together just as requested,
So wipe those tears away and let me see your face.
Come on, show it to me with pride.

Thank you so much for everything.
Sorry to have caused you so much trouble.
But could I just ask one last thing?
"Have we met somewhere before?"
